Acknowledgements

We are grateful to those employees of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS), the members of partner agencies, and those individuals who provided us with information and contributed constructively to our interviews and fieldwork. The fieldwork took place predominantly within SFRS facilities and buildings. We are grateful for the facilitation of our requests for access to key personnel within the Service and for the use of meeting rooms across the SFRS to conduct our wide-ranging set of interviews.

We would like to thank Professor Rowena Hill and Richard Pickford of Nottingham Trent University’s School of Social Sciences for their work in peer reviewing this inspection report. Acting as critical friends they offered valuable comment and critique of the report content. We are most grateful to them both for agreeing to undertake this role.

Laid before the Scottish Parliament by HM Chief Inspector of the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service under section 43C(5) of the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005
